Announcements:

I would like to postpone the second mid-term exam by one week to Thursday, April 12, 2001. I will announce this in class. Please let me know if any of you have a serious problem with this. I would be happy to make alternative arrangements if required or reconsider if necessary.

As I mentioned in class on Tuesday (January 16, 2001) we will not meet on Thursday, January 25. I will be out of town to give a talk.

Powerpoint Slides of Lectures

Given the mathematical nature of this course, we will not rely on powerpoint slides, excpet to illustrate some points periodically. Below I am providing these slides.

Slides of Chapter 2

Slides of Chapter 4: Estimating Demand

In class we discussed a model of price leadership, with a dominant firm and a competitive fringe. Here is an expanded discussion of the model, consisting of three pages - Page #1, Page #2, Page #3.

Here is the powerpoint slide of the graph we used in class.

Homework Assignments:

I will be assigning homework assignments on a regular basis. Some of these will be for practice purposes while some will count towards your final course grade. Practice homework problems will be designated as such and will have a BLUE ball next to them. Graded homework problems, on the other problem, will have a RED ball next to them and will also have a due date noted against them. These homework problems MUST be handed in by 4:15 PM on the date noted. When handing in homework problems, please follow the guidelines, laid down in the instructions.
