Dr. Beth Jan Smith Dr. Smith holds a Doctor of Education Leadership from Washington State University, and her research area is freshman student retention and persistence. Dr. Smith taught English and other courses at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington for more than 14 years, and she has numerous workshops and seminars for college students at Columbia Basin College and Blue Mountain Community College, Pendleton, OR. While at Blue Mountain, Dr. Smith directed a federal grant serving underrepresented students and developed student success programs for a Title III grant. |

Lino Gutierrez Lino graduated from Sunnyside High School and attended Skagit Valley Community College in Mount Vernon on a baseball scholarship. He received his AA degree and was selected for the NWAAC conference 1st team honors. He attended and worked at Heritage University with CAMP (College Assistance Migrant Program) as a recruiter and academic advisor. He also worked with student support services and the academic advising center. His educational background includes an Associate Arts degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. |

Maria Lopez Program Assistant Maria Lopez graduated from Kiona Benton High School and received her AA from Portland Community College. She is a past participant in both CAMP and TRIO (Maria was part of the first TRIO cohort here at WSUTC). She earned her BA in Social Science from Washington State University with a main focus on Psychology, Women’s Studies and Anthropology. Prior to becoming TRIO’s Program Assistant, Maria worked with the Pasco School District as a bilingual para-educator. |
