WSU Tri-Cities will not be holding Summer Science Camps during summer 2012.
In light of the state's continuing budget difficulties, which have resulted in deep cuts to funding for higher education, WSU Tri-Cities needs to focus on its core academic mission by offering more Summer Session courses for undergraduate and graduate students.
Fortunately, a wide range of summer programs and educational opportunities for elementary and middle-school students are offered by other community organizations. The three cities, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and others offer workshops, classes, and camps. Most of these organizations have detailed information available on their websites in early spring.
WSU Tri-Cities appreciates the opportunity to nurture children's curiosity and passion for science and engineering over the past 13 summers — and hopes to see many of these young scientists in the future as college students.
