Who can study abroad?

Any WSU student who currently holds a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA and has been attend Washington State University for at least one semester.

Where can I study abroad?

Through WSU’s Education Abroad program, you have access to more than 1,200 programs in more than 70 different countries.

For how long can I study abroad?

Depending on the program you choose, you may study for a semester, an academic year, or a summer term in a foreign country.

How much does studying abroad cost?

This depends on the program and location. We have programs that are comparable to the cost of attendance at Washington State University Tri-Cities. Please visit our office for more information.

Can I use Financial Aid while studying abroad?

Yes! Most federal and state aid can be used towards study abroad programs. If you are interested in this option, please mark on your Education Abroad application that you are interested in Financial Aid and contact our office.

What types of courses will I take?

We encourage WSU students to study abroad while taking courses that fulfill requirements within their major, but students are welcome to take some General Education Requirements while abroad as long as they are pre-approved.

Students will make an appointment with their academic advisor to determine what course credit they will receive prior to departure.

Do I have to know the host country’s language?

There are many programs that are fully in English in many different locations, so you do not necessarily have to know the language of the host country. However, we do encourage students to take courses in the host country language while abroad to enrich their experience.

Where will I stay if I study abroad?

Room and board options vary by program, but most likely it will be residence halls, homestay, or a private apartment. Housing is arranged prior to departure.
