Drawing on Evans' Embedded Autonomy, write a narrative essay answering the following questions:
A. What is a predatory state? A developmental state? An intermediate state? Define Evans' four ideal types of developmental states. Explain embedded autonomy. What type(s) of states have Brazil, India, and South Korea, respectively, had in the last several decades?
B. In their efforts to develop an informatics sector, in what ways did the governments of Brazil, India, and South Korea, respectively, embody characteristics of embedded autonomy? How were the success and/or failure of these efforts related to the states' embeddedness and/or autonomy with respect to the private sector? To characteristics of the informatics sector? To the timing of these states' development efforts? Other factors?
C. Using the Internet and other sources, discuss the role that the Brazilian, Indian, or South Korean (one only) government has taken in developing the informatics sector since the writing of Embedded Autonomy.
