Select a substantial news article from the past week's New York Times on a
topic relevant to this class, i.e. on society and politics. The
article may be on a domestic or international topic, and should be either a
report or one of the newspaper's occasional "news analyses."
In your own words, summarize the article's main point/
theme, arguments/ substantiating points. Then briefly discuss the article's relevance to topics/ issues/ themes
addressed in the class.
Your abstract should be written in clear, paragraph form, be typed,
double-spaced, and no longer than a total length of 200 words.
Immediately following the abstract (on the same page), write a complete
reference for the article. Include author's name, article title,
publication name, publication date, and page number, e.g.:
Kahn, Joseph, "China Gambles on Big Projects for Its Stability,"
New York Times, January 13, 2003, p. A1.
