An introduction to theories and philosophies of social research; sociological methods of data collection, including experimental, survey, qualitative, and quantitative approaches; and critical interpretation of research findings. Students gain hands-on experience collecting and analyzing sociological data, and communicating research findings. Some class sessions and out-of-class assignments involve use of the computer lab and computer-based analytical tools. Required course for Sociology majors and minors. Students from other fields welcome. Prerequisite: Soc 101.
