Mathematics

The numerous service courses taught by the Department of Mathematics reflect the growing importance of mathematics in a diverse range of disciplines. Students may delve into any of the numerous areas in mathematics: actuarial science, applied statistics, computational mathematics, mathematical modeling, operations research, secondary mathematics teaching, and theoretical mathematics. Throughout the course of the program, students will be well prepared to meet the needs of a rapidly changing job markets and its increasing need for employees with strong mathematical backgrounds.

In addition, the undergraduate options prepare students for graduate study in such fields as business, economics, management science and computer science, as well as mathematics and statistics. Thus, students will find many career choices once they finish their undergraduate work — they may wish to continue with higher education or choose to meet the demands of the job market with confidence in their skills and abilities.
