HOMEWORK #2... FEEDBACK FROM GRADING

ME 303 FLUID DYNAMICS/ WESTPHAL/ WSU/ FALL 2000

  1. Over 20% NOT SUBMITTED... recipe for failure... DROP recommended.
  2. Less than 50% "+" will NOT get 4.0 class gpa.
  3. ALWAYS use FBDs if you apply statics! FBD can be on your sketch, or separate (separate usually best).
  4. ALWAYS insert UNITS with numerical values; resolve units with CONVERSION FACTORS
  5. A PRESSURE must be labelled as "gauge" OR "absolute" OR "vacuum" OR "differential" in this class!!
  6. A numerical answer for a FORCE without an indication of DIRECTION is MEANINGLESS.
  7. A numerical answer for a MOMENT without an indication of the SENSE (CW or CCW) is MEANINGLESS.
  8. Don't shortcut the application of HYDROSTATIC equation... start from "PEE + GAMMA x ZEE = CONSTANT"
  9. Copying the instructor's posted solution will not provide you with nearly as much value as if you FIRST attempt the problems yourself.
