2013 Graduation Information

Announcements & Regalia

Commencement announcements can be ordered directly from Jostens. Please allow two weeks for delivery.

Student participating in the Spring 2013 commencement will need to register for graduation (www.tricity.wsu.edu/graduation/rsvpstudents.html) and order their cap and gown rental packages online through Jostens at https://secure.jostensonline.com/wsu. The rental packages will be delivered to the students’ residence. The ASWSUTC Reimbursement form can be downloaded here.

The bachelor degree rental packages cost $59.90 + tax and will include a cap, gown and a black tassel. The master’s degree rental packages cost $86.90+ tax and includes the same items as the bachelors with the addition of the hoods. The order deadline is April 11, 2013.

After the deadline you may contact The Bookie to order your cap and gown, however, additional fees will be charged.

Miscellaneous Souvenir Items for Additional Purchase

The Bookie also has a supply of diploma frames and souvenir tassels for sale. The Bookie is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. Students who live out of town may contact the Bookie at 375-1084 or bkstricitywsu@bncollege.com.

Honors and Honor Cords (Undergraduates Only)

Candidates must have completed at least 30 hours of graded work (grades in which grade points are awarded) at Washington State University in order to be considered for honors.

Cumulative GPA of:

  • 3.90 or higher = summa cum laude
  • 3.70 – 3.89 = magna cum laude
  • 3.50 – 3.69 = cum laude

The appropriate Latin phrase will be printed on the undergraduate diploma and on the final transcript.

This year WSU Tri-Cities Administration will be providing the honor cords to those qualified undergraduate candidates free of charge. The honor cords will be awarded to those students with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and higher.

For the purposes of distributing the honor cords to those participating in commencement, computation of graduation honors will be based on the student cumulative GPAs as of December 2012. The Registrar’s Office will be providing the commencement committee with a list of those undergraduate students who are eligible to receive the honor cord and they will be available for pickup at the Chancellor’s office beginning on April 15, 2013.
