What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is an online
courseware software application. Blackboard is used to teach
courses over the Web either as supplemental to a regular class
or for classes taught totally online. Blackboard requires only
that you have access to the Internet either on campus or through
your own Internet Service provider (comcast, pacifier, etc.)
at home and a Web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.).
The URL for the Blackboard used on the WSU Tri-Cities Campus
is http://blackboard.wsu.edu

How
do I know what my log-in and password are?
Instructors enter
all their own material in their courses and enroll students.
If you will be using Blackboard in your course, your instructor
will tell you what log-in and password to use.

Can I change my password?
Yes, and you should. To change your password do the following:
- Log into
Blackboard with your current log-in and password.
- Click on the Personal Information link on the left column of the Welcome screen.
- Click on the Change Password link.
- Follow the instructions to type in a new password.
You can also get to the Personal Information link inside of courses by clicking on the Tools button on the left navigation column.
What if I forget my password?
If you have forgotten
your Blackboard password, go to the log-in screen for Blackboard,
click on the Log-in button, then click on the Forgotten Password?
link. Fill out the information and click the submit button.
Your password will be reset to the original password you were
given, which you should then change right away.

How
do I change my e-mail address that is in Blackboard?
You can change your
e-mail address in Blackboard under the Personal Information
link under Edit Personal Information. You can get to this information
by:
- Log into
Blackboard with your current log-in and password.
- Click on the Personal Information link on the left column of the Welcome screen.
- Click on the Edit Personal Information link.
- Type in
your current or new e-mail address.
You can also change
your name or add any other information you want on this page.
The e-mail address you put in Blackboard is the address that
instructors and/or other students will use when they are using
the e-mail interface in Blackboard.
NOTE: Be
aware that any information you put out on the Internet can
be found eventually by searchers. If you do not want the information
in your Personal Information page to be seen, please make sure
you use the Set Privacy options under the Personal Information
link.

I am a nursing student using Blackboard; what do I need to know?
All Nursing students at Washington State University use the Blackboard server from the Intercollegiate Nursing site in Spokane. The URL for that Blackboard site is: http://nursingonline.wsu.edu/
Questions about log-ins
and/or passwords can be directed to: icnhelp@wsu.edu The
Nursing Online Blackboard site contains several links to helpful
information about using the Nursing Blackboard site. Please
refer to these documents if you have questions.
However, you make
also contact the TC Helpdesk at WSU Tri-Cities at 509-372-7334
and ask for help. This can be useful in trying to decide if
you must contact Spokane or if your difficulty can be solved
locally.
