I'm on a pilgrimage
To my promised land.
It's filled with those things
I never stopped to see.
My feet are aching
My heart is racing
I can't take this waiting.
My dreams will happen today.
Even if I never reach the place
The way there was probably worth it
Maybe if I just went a little slower,
I could see everything.
Maybe I would know
All the places that I've been
All those things that I have done.
I see the road behind;
It was the most traveled one.
But that road belongs to me.
It will know my name forever…
"Forever" is only a word.
But wouldn't it be nice
If it could really be?
Wouldn't it be beautiful?
If people didn't just throw it around?
If words could be the heart and soul
In a physical form, there for us to see?
Maybe my destination is the place
Where "forever" is never limited.
Where "never" is hardly ever there.
