21 Days

A love-struck boy and mesmeric girl,
e're so far apart,
Distant by a thousand miles
yet still bide, heart in heart.
Their love so strong, so passionate,
impatient and so keen;
they pine away the hours abroad,
pallor'd and ghastly lean.
"Twenty-one days..." the man would mewl
and answered with a sigh
From she who held his affections,
the apple of his eye.
In twenty-one days the two would meet,
their longings laid to rest,
In twenty-one days they'd hold, embraced,
and feel so truly blest.
But twenty-one days have come and gone,
and twenty-one times again,
For each beside the other is lain,
resting their sleeping head.
