Contingent upon approval by an academic advisor, candidates may apply up to 6 credits from other T&L 500-level courses. Candidates may also apply credits earned from their Professional Certification coursework as electives.

Final Examination
2 credits

T & L 702 Master’s Examination — Meet with Program Advisor six (6) months prior to exam.
1 Beginning Fall, 2011, comprehensive examinations will only be offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. Petitions for an exception to this policy will be considered at the initiation of the student and approved by the Academic Director and Department of Teaching and Learning faculty.

Total Credits for Graduate Degree — Minimum of 35

English Language Learner (ELL) and Bilingual Education (BLE) endorsements

  • Students must complete the following courses to earn an endorsement in ELL:
    1. T&L 501 Practicum in Bilingual/ESL (3)
    • T&L 504 Advanced Study in Linguistics for Educators (3)
    • T&L 509 Research in Curriculum & Assessment for Bilingual ESL Education (3)
    • T&L 510 Theoretical Foundations for Bilingual Education (3)
    • T&L 514 Methods and Materials for ESL Education (3)
    • T&L 549 Communicating in a Multilingual Society (3)
      • To earn an endorsement in BLE, students must take T&L 411: Bilingual Methods and Materials across Content Areas in addition to the courses required for the ELL endorsement.
