Admission Requirements

Application Requirements

Applicants for admission must meet the requirements of the Graduate School of Washington State University, as well as the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling Psychology.

 

  1. Complete and submit the Application for Admission to the Graduate School on line at https://www.applyweb.com/apply/wsug/.  On the application form, specify your major as Ed.M. and indicate the Department as Counseling Psychology.  There is a $50.00 application fee that must be included with your application.
  2. Complete the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling Psychology form, and attach your professional work experience and professional objective statements as needed.
  3. Order official transcripts for credits earned at ALL previous college and universities.  Official transcripts are those mailed directly from the Registrar of the institution attended to the Graduate School of Washington State University.

    The minimum requirement as specified by WSU Graduate School Policy for admission to a graduate program is a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.  The cumulative GPA is based on the last 60 semester credits (90 quarter credits) of undergraduate graded work, or on a minimum of 12 credits of graded graduate work.
  4. If you have not taken the Graduate Record Exam General Test (GRE) in the last five years, register to take the exam.  For priority consideration, the results of the GRE must be received at WSU Tri-Cities by January 15.  Scores are to be sent to The Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling Psychology (department/major field code 3802) as noted on your forms at time of testing.  These scores must be current (i.e., the date of testing cannot be more than 5 years prior to the closing date of application).  Previous score reports can be obtained from the GRE Educational Testing Service.  For additional information about the GRE, contact the Educational Testing Service at www.ets.org/gre.
  5. Request three current letters of recommendation to be sent to the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling Psychology, WSU Tri-Cities, attention:  Dr. Stephanie Bauman. These letters should reflect both the applicant’s qualifications to do graduate work as well as to become a member of the counseling profession.

REMINDER:  For top priority application Deadline is JANUARY 15 of every year
