Master of Education (Ed.M) in Counseling

Processing

Following the January 15th application deadline, an Admissions Committee appointed by the Department Chair, views all applications and recommends to the Graduate Faculty of the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling Psychology the most capable applicants. Given that each cohort has a limited enrollment, it may be necessary to deny admission to some qualified applicants. Following action by the Graduate Faculty, the WSU Graduate School is notified of the status of each applicant. The applicant is notified by the Graduate School as to whether he/she has been admitted.

A temporary advisor is appointed for each student at the time of admission to the Graduate School. This temporary advisor is normally a specialist in the area in which the student desires to major and is appointed by the Chair of the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology. It is the duty of the temporary advisor to help the student in the initial selection of courses. In turn, it is the student’s responsibility to see that requirements for completing the Master of Education (Ed.M.) with a specialization in counseling are completed and that a record of progress is kept up to date in the departmental office.
