Diversity Council Training Subcommittee Meeting

Monday April 11, 2011
Dee Posey, Tim Baker and Stephanie Bauman met to discuss possible training topics as well as a schedule for offering training.  (See below.)  Stephanie will ask Karina about the availability of sexual harassment training and whether it is required for WSU Tri-Cities employees. Dee will contact Heidi Stanton Schnebly and start making plans for Ally Training. Stephanie will contact Sharon Holden regarding Albert Torres’ offer to do diversity training around the Hispanic Culture. Stephanie will also 1) check with Student Services about plans for workshops about working with students who are veterans and 2) contact Sara Pederson about providing training regarding teaching students with disabilities.

Ally Training (Dee Posey)

  • To be offered once a year each fall semester for students
  • To be offered once every other year each spring semester for administrators, faculty and staff


Cultural Competency Training (Jeff Guillory, WSU Diversity Education)

  • To be offered once every other year for administrators, faculty and staff and students


Hispanic/Latino Cultural Competence Training

  • To be offered once every other year for administrators, faculty, staff and students


Additional Training

  • Training on other topics related to diversity (e.g.  students who are veterans, students who have disabilities) may also be offered each year

 

For 2011-2012 the tentative plan is to offer:

  • Ally training for students (October 2011)
  • Ally training for administrators, faculty and staff (Spring 2012)
  • Hispanic/Latino Cultural Competence Training (October 2011)
  • Teaching students with disabilities (October 2011)


For 2012-2013 the tentative plan is to offer:

  • Ally Training for students (Fall 2012)
  • Cultural competency training for administrators, faculty, staff and students


For 2013-2014 the tentative plan is to offer:

  • Ally training for students (Fall 2013)
  • Ally training for administrators, faculty and staff (Spring 2014)
  • Hispanic/Latino Cultural Competence Training
