Tri-City Herald Article: Students honored at Washington State University Tri-Cities' Scholarship Recognition Event

Gifts to support scholarships for students at WSU Tri-Cities has never been needed more. Often, it is the deciding factor of whether our students can stay in school and achieve their dreams for a better future that a college education brings. Gifts — large or small — make a huge difference. Whether for a student like Rosalinda, who is a single parent and the first in her family to attend college, gifts help students to stay on track as they attain their goals.

In the last two years, scholarship applications at WSU Tri-Cities have increased by 350% — almost half of our student body!

Thanks to the support of alumni, businesses, and friends in our community, last year we were able to award a record $370,000 in scholarships to 179 students, but there are hundreds more students in need.

As our scholarship application deadline of January 31st approaches, we expect an even larger number of students to apply.

Rosalinda Torres understands the sacrifice and dedication that being a successful college student requires. She is the first in her family to attend college and she is proud to be setting an example for her two young children and seven siblings.
