Dr. Allena joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Washington State University Tri-Cities in the fall of 2011.  He received his Ph. D in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) from New Mexico State University in 2010, his Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India in 2001, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, India in 1998. Dr. Allena’s research interests encompasses the development of ultra-high performance concrete mixtures using local materials, study of microstructure and mechanical properties of concrete, characterization of early-age and longer term shrinkage of concrete, use of supplementary cementitious materials, reuse/recycling of construction materials, and inquiry into concrete durability issues.
