OSHA training for labs
OSHA and the Department of Labor & Industries have adopted the United Nations Globally Harmonized System for hazard communication and chemical labeling. ALL employees who use, or who are potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals in performance of their duties, must receive training on the new standard by June 1. This includes ALL laboratory workers, as well as other positions such a custodians, maintenance, etc.
Training will be offered each week through May, giving impacted students and employees multiple opportunities to attend. Scheduled dates are as follows:
Thursday, May 8, 9-10AM, BSEL 102
Wednesday, May 14, 10-11AM, BSEL 102
Tuesday, May 20, 2-3PM, West 240
Thursday, May 29, 1-2 PM, BSEL 102
Training should require less than an hour, and there will be time for questions after.
Supervisors and lab PIs, please be sure that your student workers are also informed of this requirement, and that they also attend.
