Bachelor of Arts in
Business Administration
The bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Washington State University is designed to prepare graduates for careers in all facets of business and industry.
Whether the student attends a community college or a four-year institution for their freshman- and sophomore-level course work, the College of Business (CB) is working to ensure a smooth transition to WSU. WSU Tri-Cities offers a coordinated degree program in conjunction with Columbia Basin Community College. This program is an arrangement between Washington Community Colleges and the CB, which helps move the student easily into the four-year WSU business program.

Admission
Admissions for WSU Tri-Cities business students are processed through Washington State University. Interested students should contact the WSU Tri-Cities Admissions and Registration Office for specific admission procedures.

Business Major Certification and
Prerequisite Requirements
A student must meet all of the following certification requirements before being certified as a business major:
- A student must have earned at least 60 semester hours of credit with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- A student must have taken Acctg 230, 231, B Law 210, MgtOp 215, Econ 101, Econ 102, Engl 101, Math 201, Math 202 and MIS 250 (or MIS 350), or equivalent courses at another institution with a GPA of 2.5 or better for the group.

General Program Requirements
- All students majoring in business administration must see a business advisor for advising once a year to have advising holds released.
- Enrollment in 300- and 400-level business courses is restricted to those students who have met the requirements for certifying as a business major
- All business program students must complete 50% of their course work outside of the College of Business . Nine hours of economics and 4 hours of MgtOp 215 are counted as outside of the CB to meet this 50% rule.
- Only GENERAL ELECTIVE courses may be taken pass/fail. GER's, business electives, prerequisites, core courses, and major courses must be graded.

Residence Requirements
- At least 50% of business core and major specialization course requirements must be taken at WSU
- At least nine upper division business/economics courses must be taken at WSU
- The last 30 hours of course work must be taken at WSU.
The chair of the department and/or the dean of the college must approve 300-400-level credit which is to be transferred from another institution. Additional transfer credit (within university limits on these credits) may count toward the 120 hours required for the degree and satisfy requirements other than major courses.

WSU GER and CB Core Requirements
for all Business Majors
All business majors must meet University and College course requirements:
- WSU General Education Requirements (GERs)
- CB business, math, and economic prerequisites for certification as a business major
- CB 300- and 400-level core course requirements. These core courses are: MgtOp 340, Fin 325, MgtOp 301, MgtOp 491, Mktg 360, MIS 350 (in lieu of MIS 250 in Pullman , or BA 250 at CBC).
Transfer Students
Students planning to transfer to Washington State University at the end of the freshman or sophomore year should follow, as closely as possible, the general education requirements and business major prerequisites and core courses for Business Administration degree. If this is done, there should be no difficulty in completing the requirements for the bachelor's degree within the normal period of four years.

- Students at other Washington State community colleges who plan to transfer to WSU should follow the schedule of studies outlined in their 2+2 program agreements.

Graduation Requirements
All students, including community college transfers with an approved AA or AS, will be held to the following requirements for graduation:
- Writing Portfolio/Qualifying Exam (required for students who began college Fall 1991 or later).
- Writing in the Major courses [M] (6 hrs)
- Upper division coursework (40 hrs)
- Total hours for BA degree (120)
- Cumulative business GPA of at least 2.5 (minimum overall GPA of 2.0)

Second Bachelor's Degree
- Students who have received a bachelor's degree in another area may obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration by presenting total credits of at least 150 hours and by fulfilling the following departmental requirements: Acctg 230, 231; B Law 210; ComSt or H D [C]; MgtOp 215, 340; Econ 101, 102; Engl 402 [W] or 403 [W]; Fin 325; Math 201, 202; MgtOp 301; MgtOp 491 or 492; MIS 250 (or 350); Mktg 360; Pol S Elective; Soc or Psych [S,K]; and the courses required for the student's chosen major in business.
- The second degree can usually be completed in less than two years, depending on the number of business requirements completed as electives for the first undergraduate degree. Second degree students must have completed Acctg 230, 231, B Law 210, MgtOp 215, Econ 101, 102, Engl 101, Math 201, 202, and MIS 250 (or 350) before enrolling in 300- or 400-level business courses. Students should consult an undergraduate Business advisor for specific requirements.
