All undergraduates intending to earn their degree from WSU must complete the Junior Writing Portfolio once they complete 60 semester credits. This applies to all undergraduate students, including transfer, Honors, and branch campus students. Students who started college at an accredited institute prior to the fall of 1991 or students seeking a second bachelor's degree are exempt from this requirement.
Visit the Writing Portfolio website at writingportfolio.wsu.edu for official submission guidelines.
The writing portfolio consists of a Packet and a Timed Essay portion. You turn in the packet to Brittany Woehle in West 207B from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
THE TIMED ESSAY
The Timed Writing consists of two impromptu essays written during a single, supervised two-hour session. One essay will be argumentative and the other will be a self-evaluation.
To complete the Timed Writing, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Sign-up for a Timed Writing session.
- Step 2: Attend your scheduled session and complete the exam.
Bring a photo ID and two pens (no pencils) to the session. We will provide a Blue Book.
By submitting this registration, you acknowledge that you will attend your selected timed writing session. Please arrive 15 minutes before the essay time. You will not receive an email confirming this.
All fields, except the additional information box, are required to secure a place for the exam.
