Star Safety Unit

Superior Practice and Compliance

 

 

  1. The supervisor of the unit must have completed Supervisor Safety Training.
  2. The supervisor of the unit must go through the Supervisor Safety Check List with new employees.
  3. The unit must have completed a Hazard Evaluation Form, which is available for employees to update at any time.
  4. The unit must have an up to date Accident Prevention Plan.
  5. Units must maintain training records.
  6. All members must complete Emergency Response or Emergency Evacuation and Emergency Communication Training.
  7. All members of unit must complete basic workplace Ergonomics training, including slips, trips, and falls, and be aware of the "Stretch Break" ergonomic software available to staff and faculty here.
  8. All members of unit must complete any required training identified by Hazard Evaluation Form or Accident Prevention Plan
  9. All members of the unit must know:

Who their Safety Committee Member is

Where nearest First Aid Kit is,

Where AED is located,

Who has first aid training in the unit

10. Unit must demonstrate safe housekeeping and fire safety practices by passing a yearly inspection.

  1. The supervisor of the unit must have completed Supervisor Safety Training.

  6. All members must complete Emergency Response or Emergency Evacuation and Emergency Communication Training.

  11. Unit must demonstrate safe housekeeping and fire safety practices by passing a yearly inspection.
  12. Up to date inventories must be kept ( at least annual) of all hazardous chemicals
  13. MSDS’s must be available and easily accessible for all hazardous chemicals
  14. A Chemical Hygiene Plan must be available for all hazardous chemicals. There must be a Chemical Hygience Plan for each lab.
  15. Laboratory Safety Training should be required for all lab users.
  16. Waste Generator Training is required for any waste generator.
