Winter and early spring are potentially the worst times for injuries due to slips, trips, and falls. Wear shoes with good footing and traction, and allow for extra time to get where you are going. Make an extra effort to be aware of your surroundings. Be especially careful when coming in from a wet or snowy environment- often the partially wet floor inside is more of a hazard than the icy walk you are coming from.

Identification of WNV in Washington a mosquito pool confirms that WNV is here and that people should continue to decrease mosquito habitat around their homes and practice mosquito avoidance techniques.
Arboviral infections are a notifiable condition in Washington. Clinicians should consider WNV infection in any patients presenting with encephalitis or fever and a neurological syndrome of unknown etiology, and report suspected or confirmed cases to their local health jurisdiction.
