The Junior Writing Portfolio at WSU Tri-Cities
General Information

Tri-Cities campus program administrator: Joanne Baker, West 207B , Phone: 372-7217
Email: jbaker@tricity.wsu.edu

All undergraduates intending to earn a degree from WSU must complete the Junior Writing Portfolio once they complete 60 semester credits. This applies to all undergraduate students, including transfer, Honors, and branch campus students. Students who started college at an accredited institute prior to the Fall of 1991 or students seeking a second bachelor’s degree are exempt from this requirement.

Visit the Writing Portfolio website at writingportfolio.wsu.edu for official submission guidelines.

As the information on the Writing Portfolio website indicates, the Writing Portfolio consists of the Packet and the Timed Writing. At WSU Tri-Cities, students need to make an appointment to take the Timed Writing - please fill out the form below.  To take the Timed Writing, students need to bring a picture ID, non-erasable blue or black ink pens, and they must know their WSU ID numbers. As students prepare to hand in their Packets, they can find the official envelopes (all the required forms and instructions come with the envelope) in the Student Bookstore. These required forms are also available to download online on the Writing Portfolio website - writingportfolio.wsu.edu.

Students can find out what rating their Writing Portfolios received by checking their MyWSU accounts, by contacting Joanne Baker in Room West 207B , or by call the Writing Assessment Office at 509-335-7959. If the rating on a student’s portfolio indicates that the students need to take a one-credit writing tutorial (Gen Ed 302), the student should contact Joanne Baker in Room West 207B to make arrangements for the course.

Students qualifying for accommodations should contact Disability Services Coordinator Cherish Tijerina at (509) 372-7352 for special arrangements prior to taking the Timed Writing.

Please note that this is the submission form for the Timed Write NOT the submission form for the Writing Placement Exam! We do want to avoid any confusion! All fields, except the additional information box, are required to secure a place for the exam.
