Professional attainments

Dr. Klock has been the Project Manger and Interdisciplinary Team Leader for 21 long-term resource management plans with environmental documentation for project landscapes that ranged from 500 to 1.4 million acres. These NEPA/SEPA based projects have ranged from ORV Recreation Plans, Forest Harvesting, Ski Area Development and Planning to Integrated Resource Management, Forest Management Plans and Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plans.

Dr. Klock was one of the earliest researchers and author of the concept of cumulative effects and the analysis methodology on the spatial and time effects of land management practices on water resource values (40(2): 237-241, J. of Soil and Water Conservation, 1985). Cumulative Effects Analyses are now required of all NEPA Environmental Impact Statement and Environmental Assessment documentation. Dr. Klock developed many of the early concepts in adapting the use of satellite imagery and computerized Geographic Information Systems for mapping and analyzing land use conditions and practices. In addition, his nationally recognized studies showed that often natural soil and hydrologic processes were being mistaken as the effects of atmospheric acid deposition (acid rain).

Dr. Klock is the author or coauthor on more than 125 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the fields of soil and water, forest management and the natural resource application of remote sensing and GIS. He has taught numerous university classes and post-graduate works shops across the United States and abroad. Dr. Klock is a periodic invited peer reviewer at international workshops focused on the frontiers of earth's life support systems.

Additional experiences of Dr. Klock include that of Vice President for SoftSell Technologies, Inc. where the first operational Artificial Intelligence software was developed for the U.S. Military and Founding Director of U.S. Online, Inc., developers of award-winning Internet-user software.
